The system shall consist of the Intelligent Building Automation Control Panel (BACP); controlling the lighting circuits, dimming circuits, air conditioning, shutter controllers, audio controllers and security in the building. The BACP shall be mounted next to the main DB housing the circuit breakers (to be proved by others).

This BACP will house all system devices; lighting, dimming, shutter control, security system zone terminals and audio actuators controlling lights, shutters, audio and A/C control actuators controlling the air conditioning units. There shall be an Intelligent switch sensor located at relevant locations as agreed upon in the drawings. These switch sensors shall be multifunction, such that from the same unit one can control the Lighting, Dimming, Shutters, Audio and Air-conditioning.

All the actuators, intelligent switch sensors and other system devices will be connected to each other via the EIB bus cable within the building. The lighting/ dimming switches connect to the EIB network via a bus coupler consisting of EEPROM storing the parameters, set points, addresses etc. Also the actuator devices consist of built in EEPROM, which stores the relevant data (parameters, addresses etc.). The input from the switches and the outputs from the lighting controls are programmed as per the requirement. Since all of the devices have built in intelligence with the distributed programming control, the system is flexible for freely programming to link inputs with the outputs. Above all the distributed intelligence also lets the programming and grouping to be modified at any later date, minimizing the cost and manpower required in re-work or modifications. Modifications can easily be implemented with KNX i-bus® EIB. The modifications simply need a reprogram and the functions are already adapted to the new conditions.
